This past Saturday, the collective Curated by Girls led by Laetitia Duveau presented its second show, Poster Boys, a collection of unreleased portraits shot by photographer Joseph Wolfgang Ohlert, who met his models through social media.
The exhibition took place at Blender & Co. as the last show by Curated by Girls, Freer in Berlin. Once again, Laetitia managed to pull a great event that looked effortless – although by talking to her, we found out that she has worked very hard for it – and was great fun. The event was full all weekend, and on Saturday, it turned into a party “It was amazing! yesterday everyone was dancing, it was a real feast!” mentioned Laetitia when we asked her about the event’s conclusion: “An event is always a mystery. You never know what’s gonna happen ! It’s a lot of work and a mix of emotions: excitement, worries, expectations, happiness, stress… It’s only when it’s over that you realize how well it went. “Poster Boys” was definitely a success! Joseph is one of the most talented photographers around! He has a magic eye! He is not a copy-cat from another. His 10 Poster Boys are great pieces of Art, each one special. I’m so happy i could spend the whole weekend with Joseph, and get to know him, he’s so much fun to be around… Some of the models could also make it to the show and that made everything even more special. The Vernissage on Saturday turned into a dancing party, with cute pop music, and people were really having fun! It’s good to let your hair down and enjoy the moment ! This was only my second exhibition and it was completely different from the first one ! I guess You never know what you’re gonna get and that’s the beauty of life.”
Joseph Wolfgang Ohlert, who is only 25 years old, is already shaking up the Berliner art scene. His first book has already been release, named “Gender as a Spectrum” a 300-page collection of portraits of gender-defying individuals.
Laetitia told us why he chose to feature Joseph on her second show: “It’s obviously important for me to choose Artists i admire. I’ve been following Joseph Wolfgang Ohlert for a while and i absolutely wanted to do a show focusing on his work . He is a great artist. He has a very personal eye and through his lens he makes people look beautiful. He loves people and he loves his Poster Boys so much.”
Curated by Girls follows the “no rest for the wicked” motto: Laetitia is already organizing a show for next month, and a collaboration. Stay tuned!
